Shawls and a wooden cross specially made by members of our congregation

Our Prayer Shawl Ministry is to help people who are having some sort of challenges in their life. These challenges could be health related, loss related (death of a loved one), or many other reasons.  The shawls are made with love to give comfort, give solace, and to tell the recipient that the Clarkes Church CARES. At each communion service, each member of our church lays their hands upon these shawls and offers a silent prayer asking for God’s help to the person for whom it is intended.

We also have a member who makes wooden crosses that we also hand out with the Prayer Shawls.  Some times we even just give a cross if we think some one might not want a shawl but would like a remembrance that someone else is thinking and praying for them.

We are always looking for new knitters so I encourage anyone to contact me.  I also have the directions on how to make them.

For more general information on Prayer Shawls, see the Prayer Shawl Ministry web page.

“Shawls … made for centuries universal and embracing,

symbolic of an inclusive, unconditionally loving, God.

They wrap, enfold, comfort, cover, give solace,

mother, hug, shelter and beautify.

Those who have received these shawls have been

uplifted and affirmed, as if given wings to

fly above their troubles…”
